Shabaj to work out for NFL teams
EAST LANSING - Former Michigan State University receiver Agim Shabaj will work out for at least seven National Football League teams on Tuesday, his agent said, in hopes of being picked in Thursday's supplemental draft. - NFL Football -
Shabaj was ruled academically ineligible in June, forcing him to miss his senior season at MSU. Shabaj said he considered Division II schools such as Grand Valley State and Saginaw Valley State, along with an attempt to regain his eligibility at MSU and return in 2006, but opted instead to take a shot at the NFL. He would have had to pay for a year at MSU, which he said he could not afford. - NFL Football -
"I was devastated and my teammates were devastated," Shabaj said of learning that he was ineligible. "My plans have changed quite a bit. But hopefully I'll get a chance to show what I can do for some NFL teams."
Shabaj will work out Tuesday at Farmington Hills Harrison High School, his alma mater, and catch passes from former MSU quarterback Damon Dowdell. - NFL Football -
Representatives from the NFL's Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cincinnati Bengals and Jacksonville Jaguars will attend, said Shabaj's agent, Justin VanFulpen of Grand Rapids. - NFL Football -
